Completed in 2008, ‘Tornado’ ran a series of tests at the Great Central Railway, Loughborough whilst in grey undercoat. It was granted a main line certificate in January 2009 and has been a regular performer on charters since, wearing a variety of BR steam-era liveries.Â
In 2017, ‘Tornado’ became the first steam locomotive to reach 100mph for over 50 years.
